Short update: I made these a while ago but forgot to ever talk about them! They're little logos for the main website and this blog :3 I might make one for the art blog iiiiif I ever finish remaking it... Hopefully I'll at least get to adding some stuff I made recently!

Jun 11 - Artfol update

this is a long one....

I will preface this by saying I am not a web designer at ALL, this website is a hobby and I know next to nothing about actual web design so this is all my opinion and what I'm about to say is primarily my prefrences and not meant to be serious critique. I just get kinda emotional about this stuff lol.

So Artfol is (was) my favorite website for posting my art. And recently they changed from artfol.co to artfol.app and with this came a major redesign of their interface, and in summary I hate it. A lot. It's technically a fine redesign and it's basically the same website, but oh dear lord I hate it. A bit of context about myself is that I hate overly "simple" or modern UI, I much prefer websites that don't try to be modern and focus more on being easy to navigate and understand. I feel like websites that try to be modern will often become so hard to use to the point you don't even know what most of the buttons do. My favorite types of websites are ones like Artfight and Toyhouse that don't try to be modern and are instead easy to use and offer much more personalization to the user. Not every website has to be like that, obviously, I just find that they are so much easier to understand and navigate.

So Artfol. Before the update it was definitly a bit clunky and it was a lot slower than most websites due to it being a work in progress and being relatively small. But what made it special was how unique it was, it was specifically designed for artists and was honestly a great website (and app)! There was nothing like Artfol and I found it perfect for keeping my art, Ive been posting there multiple times a week because I loved it! There's no pressure to get lots of likes, people comment nice things on my art, and the whole website was not at all fandom focused so OC art and fan art are seen as the same and most of the artists on the platform ONLY post OC art. The collections also make it very easy to catagorize your art making it easier to browse. And when it came to website design, it wasn't like a typical social media platform, especially with the focus on your artwork. But... with the update it feels so much more like any other social media platform, platforms that I left!!

There is constantly a trend of websites redesigning and becoming more "modern", a notable example for me being when google docs changed their UI and it was.... not the best to say the least. But that was google, everyone expects a company like google to make their UI more "modern" and in turn worse, but Artfol is a small website for artists, not a large cooperation, so it hurts all the more to see a website I loved and wanted to see sucseed become so much more unpleasant to use. I had moved to Artfol because it wasn't like the other social media sites, I used it so much because it was fun to use and I liked just browsing the website. But now it's becoming more like the websites I was trying to avoid.

I have hope that Artfol will at least become a nicer website, the update did only come out a few days ago so I know things will be changed and it will become a bit less laggy, but if they keep going in a more "modern" direction I doubt I will stay on the platform, or at least I'll be posting less. I have seen others say they really enjoy the new update and love it, so I doubt it will go back on its changes completly, and I'm glad that they are loving it. Maybe Artfol just isn't for me anymore, and I guess I'll have to find somewhere else, or just deal with it.

ANYWAY!!! With all this, I'll probably try posting on Tumblr some more... Tumblr is one of my favorite social medias because I LOVE the tagging system and the fact there's no algorithm. I also love the type of fandom that uses Tumblr, I was probably always meant to be one of those annoying fandom Tumblr users lol.... I just get really anxious about posting on Tumblr because 800?!!?!?! people follow me on there and I try not to, but I tend to focus too much on which posts get more notes than others even though I know I should just post what I wanna post!!!

Anyway anyway!!!!!!! This one was a lot longer than the rest (you don't wanna see how long my rant was about the full artfol update that my friends had to see lol) I don't think anyone actually reads these, but it's nice to just talk about stuff, so if anyone is reading this, thank you for reading!! Hi hi hello! Nothing in specific to talk about, just some general things thats been going on!

As for this website, I just added the art tab for this blog! I'm thinking of also adding a portfolio section to my website since I haven't had a portfolio since like... 2019 and it'd be nice to have on hand, but that might not be for a while since I don't think I wanna go through the process of making a whole other part of my website... I love coding but it can get real tiring after some time.

I've also recently gotten into Forsaken! Well... kinda. It's a Roblox game where there's one killer and 8 surviors (I think) and the surviors win if they are able to activate all the generators or survive for 5 minutes (I think), and the killer wins if they... kill everyone! The thing is I have not played a public game yet because... I'm a little scared to. I'm just not very good at those types of games (despite how much I play Phighting) and with how private servers work, it's hard to get a good grasp on the game without actually playing public games. And the worst part is, unlike Phighting where you have acsess to every character from the beginning, in Forsaken you have use in-game currency to buy different characters other than the starters, and to get the currency you have to actually play the game in public servers... Which sucks because my favorite character is Two Time and they aren't a starter character... It's tragic really.... (/dramatic)

Apr 15 - Music rant (Jhariah)

Hi hello, I have more stuff to add at a later date, but I've been listening to Trust Ceremony by Jhariah and it's such a good album...

I started listening to Jhariah back in 2022 with BAD LUCK! and Flight of the Crows which I probably found on Tik Tok or Youtube, because that's how I found a LOT of music. Then I ended up listening to the whole album and loved it, but after a while I stopped listening to Jhariah a lot...

I listened to RISK, RISK, RISK! when it came out in August 2023, but for some reason I didn't like the song then, it wasn't until I gave it another listen in December 2024 that I actually started to really like the song, then a bit later I listened to the full album in January and I've been kinda obsessed with it since...

My favorite song at first was Risk because I had been listening to it, but I also really enjoyed how fire4fun lead into risk... I love when songs connect to one another in the end and beginning (My favorite example of this being Notos by The Oh Hellos. But as I listened to the album on repeat I started loving Russian Doll, especially the ending. If you asked me to pick a favorite I wouldn't be able to choose between Collarbone/Pin-eye, Russain Doll, and Trust Ceremony. But to be honest I love every song on the album.

Pin-eye is especially such a good song, it is just so fun to listen to, and it also resonates a lot with me with burnout and such. I definitly recomend giving it a listen if you're up for it!

Hi this is just an intro for my first one.. I won't have a schedule or update this regularly, just whenever I feel like adding something. I don't usually type with like... grammar and stuff so apologies if the way I type is weird. I'm usually an all lowercase no periods guy lol... but I'll try to make this easier to read.

I've been getting more and more into coding and even made my own character template on Toyhouse... but Toyhouse coding is a lot different than actually trying to make a website.

I'm also gonna try to make a new banner for this, since the colors don't really match the rest of it... It'll still be Valk and Boombox though, because I LOVE THEM!!!
